What can be best way
Constant demands to be better and to get quality in everything we consume are slowly becoming toxic. I know the word toxic sounds violent and somewhat more critical, but I could not help choosing that word, given the effects of this culture prevalent now.
I am aware we should be our best selves, but to what extent? Who will decide that extent? I think a person themselves, or at most their best friend, can decide how far they should fight. When setting limits, there is always a risk of giving up too easily, whereas a best friend or ideals from the same background can inspire you not to give up and to strive for better. In this way, it helps you grow. There is also a risk of getting too caught up in ambition and becoming so obsessive about something that you lose important parts of your life, including relationships and other important things. In this struggle, there will also be success, but it comes at the cost of many of life's good things, and it does not feel like success. So, where to stop the train is also an art. In this trap, you just have to decide the limits in terms of years, relationships, and health, both physical and mental, where damage to these areas is almost irreversible.
In the world of consumerism, we always want to do better because everything around us seems to be doing perfectly well in terms of reels, YouTube videos and podcasts. If someone is an influencer, there is always a better influencer. If someone is a good public speaker, there is always a better speaker. If someone is a researcher, there is always a better researcher. You will never be satisfied with your success, even though your present success is far better than your past and you have achieved dreams you never dreamed of, milestones that were never achieved by your previous generations. But your success will always seem minuscule when you are living in the present era of a constant striving culture.
In what you purchase, there is also a constant striving for a good car and a good home, a better garden, a better bedroom, a better sofa, better food. In this world of constant capitalist demands, we feel we deserve better only when we already have, and we feel inadequate and insufficient. So lifestyle upgradation takes the driver's seat, and we are always in the backseat, driven by unconscious demands to improve everything and remaining constantly dissatisfied with what we already have.
